Last Light in Camp
One of the greatest pleasures of life is sitting on the dirt, tired and content from a day of travel, drinking camp coffee and dreaming of what tomorrow might bring. That river of light, that interplay between snow and sky and dusk, elevates the soul.
This print was hand-pulled using water-soluble, environmentally responsible inks.
Last Light in Camp is a limited edition print entirely made by hand.
What is a hand-pulled linocut print?
After making an initial drawing, I hand-carve a linoleum block. I then squeeze ink out onto my palette, roll it onto the block using a hard paint-roller tool, and then carefully press the paper down onto the block. After the ink layer dries (2 to 7 days), I carefully repeat the process for each subsequent layer of colour.
Each print is unique and there will be slight variations within the edition – that’s part of the charm of linocut printmaking. You can see the hand of the artist in every print.
